;D If you're talking about basketball, I'd own you in it. ;D If you're talking about some kind of extremely different game that's not known by anyone else on the face of the earth except yourself, then I'd consider myself pwned by the dude who's lost in general...

Chapter 9: Ryu The Knight
Caleb's horse Windy walked, and walked. Ran some, then walked some more. After about three miles of walking and running, Caleb had her stop near a lake to drink some water. He washed his face and stared back at himself through his reflection.
"What the..." he began, touching something on his face. It was a scar, dark and purple, right across his cheek. Perhaps a rock had cut him when that intruder sent him flying across the ground. Caleb ignored it from then on. He watched Windy drink more water, then felt himself beginning to get hungry.
"Darn, I was so quick to leave I forgot to bring some food..." Caleb got to his feet and looked at his surroundings. He was in an enormous forest filled with big broad trees. At the very top of one tree, there were a few apples, but it was too high up. But Caleb, like he was, always had an idea. He took his bow and an arrow from his back and began to fire them into the tree, one by one, creating a kind of ladder.
When the arrows reached high enough to the branches, Caleb stopped, took a running leap, and began to crawl up the arrows like an acrobatic person. When he reached the top, he slowly walked across the thick branch leading to the apples. Just as he was about to grab one, something loud and angry screeched from behind him, and he felt a sharp object piercing his backside. "Ahhh!!" he yelled, stumbling forward and falling from the tree branch.
He caught another one, but his hand slipped and he hit the hard ground with a thud. Caleb lay motionless for a second, staring up at the branch he just stood on to see a short, skinny orange creature with a long blue horn coming out of it's head. It seemed to be eating something. Caleb got to his feet, and yelled, "Stupid scammer!" The scammer replied with a screeching yell, showing it's mouthful of sharp teeth.
Then, out from the many holes in the tree, came more scammers. Different shapes, different sizes. The big ones he feared the most. He slowly began to back away as more and more came out from the tree. They began to screech and yell loudly, coming towards him, their sharp claws raised. "Uh-oh..." he murmured to himself.
Suddenly, a group of them began racing towards him. He began to run backwards then turned around and began running full speed towards Windy, his horse. He was not quick enough. Scammers were known for their quick speed and quick-temper, making them very dangerous when in groups.
One after another, the short orange creatures piled on top of him and began to chew at his flesh. He screamed in agony, reaching for his sword on his back. With all of the scammers' weight put together, he could barely move. Suddenly, something grabbed him by his hair and threw him across the ground.
He could hear a man's voice, shouting at the creatures. There was the sound of a sword being drawn, then the scammers screeching with pain. He could hear the rest of them running away, their yelps disappearing.
Caleb pulled himself up from lying on his stomach and groaned as he rubbed the cuts on his body. As he turned around to see his savior, there was a large man in silver armor. The armor was stained with dirt, and there were many scratches as well as dents in it. Caleb could not see the man's face, because he was wearing a helmet. The darkness in the mask could be seen though. Caleb supposed he was a knight.
"Not so tough in the wilderness, eh kid?" the man asked, slamming his long sharp sword into the sheethe case on his waist. He was quite tall. "Uhh...n-no sir...th-thank you..." "What's your name, kid?" "It's Caleb..." Caleb replied, barely smiling with gratitude. "And yours?" "The names Ryu. You're that kid from Tiros who's always going to the Arena huh? Hm hm hm...it figures you'd have no experience in the real world."

Chapter 10: Off To See The Wizard
Caleb frowned at Ryu. "What are you trying to say? I'm weak?" Ryu laughed quietly and replied, "No, what I'm saying is that always being cooked up in that small village and never engaging in a real life or death battle has made you weak..." Caleb was embarassed. Ryu was right. ALl this time he'd been receiving praise from the citizens of his village and it made him weak. He was no warrior, just a boy with better equipment than he deserved.
Ryu seemed to realize the embarassment Caleb was feeling and decided to change the subject. "So...a kid like you, all alone in the wilderness...where ya heading?" "I'm going to meet the wizard known as Sorian who lives in Yirion Kingdom. I must ask something of him..." "That old geezer?" Ryu interrupted, crossing his arms and laughing. "Why, he couldn't tell a three armed Barlon Troll from King Ardum himself!" Caleb glared back at him.
"This is no joke, I need his help...you see, this hooded guy came to the arena a while back, and he had this strange power...he threatened to kill everyone in the building! He was throwing strange energy from his hands and, and-" "Woah woah woah...this doesn't sound very convincing..."
"You have to believe me. Just yesterday, the princess of Ardum was kidnapped by another man who posessed the same kind of power, only he held a staff..." Ryu's eyes lit up at that. "You're speaking of the priests of Kaluum! Yes, I remember now, back when me and my army invaded Kaluum Village, there were those hooded guys who kept trying to throw blue energy from their hands, but me and my army were too fast for them!"
That seemed almost impossible to Caleb. "That's not possible," Caleb said, shaking his head, "the guys I'm talking about are quick...extremely fast." "Hmm... I can take you to Kaluum Village, and you can see for yourself...how about that?" For a moment, Caleb felt that Ryu had wanted to join him all along. For what reason, he did not know. Caleb was about to say no, but he could probably use this guys' help, he did save his life, after all..."
"All right," Caleb agreed. "But I'm not paying you anything..." "Nobody said you'd have to, kid, I'm just helping out the needy." Caleb smield at that, then whistled for Windy. The white horse came running from behind a large tall group of bushes and stopped right in front of the two of them. "That horse..." Ryu began, his voice curious. "She's mine. And I hope you have your own ride..."
Ryu laughed, shaking his head, then whistled. Out of the forest there were loud, quick footsteps. The ground vibrated beneath the two of them as an enormous creature with red fur exploded from the forest. It shook it's head, galloping, then let out a low growl. Caleb jumped slightly. "Don't worry kid, he's my pet Firion. Come here Sammy!" The enormous creature stuck out it's long red tongue and began to whimper, then ran towards Ryu at full speed.
Caleb ducked for cover, but Ryu kept his ground. Just as the Firion was about to knock him flat on his feet, it stopped, and sniffed at something Ryu was holding in his hand." The knight held out his hand to reveal the leg of a scammer, bloody and raw. He threw it into the air, and Sammy jumped and caught it in half a second. "Good boy," Ryu said, smiling and rubbing the creatures' red fur.
Caleb got back to his feet. Windy, who was standing next to him, looked on in amazement, and terror. Ryu turned to them. "You two aren't scared of old Sammy now, are ya?" Caleb forced a smile. "He's a Firion...but I thought all Firion's were unable to be tamed as pets." Ryu sighed. "Whoever told you that load of crock was lying. Well, we better get going, eh?" Caleb shook his head, then jumped onto Windy's back.
Ryu turned to Sammy and patted his head. The creature ducked, ran under him, jumped up, and began to walk, the ground shaking. Ryu and Caleb talked as they walked, although Ryu was nearly six feet above Caleb's head, they did their best to communicate with each other. A few hours passed, until it was nearly dark.
They were now in the mountains. "We better set up camp before it gets too dark." Ryu said, looking up at the sky. Caleb agreed and the two of them stopped near a narrow path leading into a cave. Caleb tied Windy to a rock, while Ryu insisted on letting Sammy roam as he liked. Caleb agreed to gather firewood, while Ryu found something to eat.
As Caleb repeatedly rubbed two blocks of wood together, trying to start a fire, the coldness closing around him, he thought of Princess Mariam. He wondered where that awful man took her, and how she felt. Did she know he was coming for her? Did she even remember him? She had to. She'd tried to help him when he was wounded, and he doubted a princess of all people would do something like that for someone like him.
"Shaaaaa...." Caleb jumped, looked around, then returned to the wood, while still giving quick glances behind him. "Shaaaaa..." came the hissing noise again. Caleb got to his feet and turned around, but there was nothing. A few hours later, Ryu returned with a pouch full of fish, then went back into the nearby forest. He came back with a dead wild pig he'd shot in the neck.
"Nice aiming," Caleb said, smiling. They roasted the pig over the fire Caleb built, and grilled the fish on a stone. Ryu did all the cooking. He had, like he said, experience with cooking, but he would not admit why. Perhaps his mother had taught him when he was young. But was that possible? Was he really even a knight? He seemed too nice to be someone who fought day and knight, killing and seeing blood-shed and tasting dark victory when he slaughtered another man.
Caleb never asked him any of those things, but still wondered. When they'd finished eating, Ryu gave the scraps of the pig to his Firion, while Caleb fed his horse the rest of the fish. After talking for a while longer, about past experiences and the such, they both went to bed.
In the middle of the night, something woke Caleb. It was the hissing again. He slowly opened his eyes, only to see nothing. The fire was still going brightly. He relaxed once more, closed his eyes, and just when he was about to go to sleep, he heard the loudest scream ever.
It rang in his ears over and over, until he finally opened his eyes and looked around. The sound was coming from outside of the cave. Covering his ears and getting to his feet, he ran over to Ryu who sat in the corner, asleep.
Caleb shook his shoulder, waking him up. It didn't take him long to realize that something was going on outside. The two of them ran out of the cave to see an enormous bald creature with sharp claws and a mouthful of teeth. "It's a Barlon Troll!" Caleb exclaimed, watching as the creature stomped around, slamming both of it's enormous fists into the ground. When it heard him, it got to his feet and began running towards the two of them.
The Barlon Troll stood nearly twelve feet tall. "RAAAHHH!!!!!" It yelled. "Look out!" Ryu screamed, knocking Caleb to the side and drawing his sword and shield. He dodged the first punch the troll slammed into the ground, then slid on the ground, kicking the creature in the ribcage, and slammed his sword into it's leg.
"AAAARGGHH!!!!" The troll yeleld in pain. In an insane rage, it flung it's muscular arm out and knocked Ryu as hard as he could, sending the knight flying backwards full force and practically crashing through an entire wall of mountain rock. Caleb stood still in the shadows. He grabbed for the bow on his back, then an arrow. He aimed directly at the trolls' chest and fired.
The arrow struck quick and fast, but snapped in two as it collided with the trolls' rock hard skin. The troll turned to him and growled, then started running right at him. Caleb quickly jumped out of the way, just as the trolls' shoulder smashed through the mountain wall. Rock debris from above began to fall and hit the Barlon Troll in various places all over his body.
That gave Caleb an idea. He raised his bow and began to fire arrows at the ceiling, while keeping a good distance from the Barlon Troll. One after another, the arrows struck the hard rock and rubble came crashing down onto the troll. After a minute or so, the troll was dizzy and began to attack where there was nothing. Seeing his chance to finish the job, Caleb aimed where there was a large crack in the ceiling and fired. Instantly, an enormous boulder collapsed onto the troll, smashing it.
Caleb breathed hard, trying to catch his breath, then fell down onto the ground, wiping the sweat from his face. It wasn't until a few minutes later that he remembered about Ryu. The boy quickly got to his feet then ran and jumped through the large hole in the wall. There lied a broken and battered body. Pieces of armor were scattered all over the ground, and he could now clearly see the face of Ryu for once since he met him.
He looked to be quite old, and had short brownish gray hair. His nose was bleeding badly, and one eye was shut. He wore cracked mesh armor and something was spilling from underneath him. A dark red liquid. Blood. A long sharp object stuck up from his stomach, and he seemed to be convulsing. "Oh no..."
Caleb murmured, touching Ryu's face. It took all of his strength to pull Ryu across the floor. Sammy watched and cried sadly. "It's okay boy, we're going to get him some help." With the last bit of strength left in his body, Caleb slung Ryu onto Sammy's back. "Follow me," Caleb said, jumping onto Windy's back. The horse ran out of the cave and began to gallop down a long, dark narrow path. Sammy followed, trying to keep himself steady as to not let his master fall off.
