Time for a new story, I can have up to three at a time (Have Vlad's new story titled Dragon Ball LG, my story called Eclipse, and this one I'm just starting now so don't worry, I'll keep others up-to-date with all of them when I get the chance. Ahem, so, here goes... Chapter 1: Meet Caleb Caleb opened his eyes as he pulled off his covers and got out of bed, yawning. He was in his underclothes. He had shoulder length black hair and dark brown eyes. Caleb was about fifteen and was known throughout his village, Tiro, as an experienced fighter. It was rare for someone so young of his age to have such fighting abilities, and everytime he stepped into the ring, people would cheer him on and call him "Thoro". His mother did not like the idea, because she was afraid he'd get hurt or even worse, killed, just like his father. Caleb was told by his mother that his father, a local officer for Tiro, fell, but that wasn't the whole story. He had actually been mauled by a group of lions, along with their owners piercing his skin over and over again with their long silver blades, while blood gushed forth from his body and he was knocked off of a 3,000 feet high cliff. His body was found a few days later by the local Tiro Officers, and he was buried. That was a long time ago though, when Caleb was only about six years old. He was older now, and a much more experienced fighter than his father was. Caleb never knew his father that much. He knew that he was always away, on duty with the rest of the officers, stopping crime. His mother cried a bit when his father died, but stopped soon after a few days. Sometimes, he could still hear her whimpering in her sleep, murmuring his fathers' name. He felt sorry for her, and wished there was something he could do. But, just like his father, Caleb was away most of the time. He would go to the downtown arena in Verigo Village and challenge the other contestants to fights. The matches consisted of some of the strongest warriors who used swords, bows and arrows, shields, daggers, or just plain out fist and foot fighting, which most of the large men preferred. Caleb opened his closet and pulled down a black box from the top. He slipped on his brown pants and black boots, strapping the boots' silver straps across his feet, then put a metal breastplate across his chest over his white t-shirt. He then put on his long sleeved brown shirt made of wool, and then a short black overvest made of tough leather. Caleb slipped on his black gloves next, then walked over to a large cupboard with a lock on it. He kept a lock on it to keep his mother from seeing the things he had inside, which would surely make her angry and probably ground him for the rest of his life, at least until he was eighteen. Caleb bent down to enter a special combination on the cupboard then opened it. Inside was a bow, a patch full of arrows, a blue cased sword with red and blue diamonds in the golden handle, a bergandi red utility belt with many pockets, a black shield with a golden dragon symbol on the front, and a black belt with a silver buckle. Caleb smiled as he admired his collection of weapons and accessories. He put the utility belt on, strapping it around his waist. Then took the belt and strapped it onto his back, sliding the cased sword inside. Caleb tied the bag of arrows to his utility belt, then slid the black and golden shield onto it as well. The bow he put on his shoulder. As he opened his door, slowly walking down the creaky stairs, Caleb opened the front door and walked out into the night. It was raining outside, and yellow lightning struck the dark sky every once and a while. Caleb ran over to his white horse, who he'd named "Windy", because she was fast, like the wind. Windy was a beautiful horse. He white milky fur lay smoothly across her broad, strong body. "You've been waiting for me, good girl," Caleb said, jumping onto her back. He kicked her in the side, and she began running down the dark muddy road. I hope Davin was right about this guy who's coming to the Arena tonight. I hope he's good...
Upon arriving in Verigo Village, Caleb was met by a larg man with long brown hair. His mustache and beard were wet from the rain, and he had bright blue eyes. "Davin, thanks for waiting on me," Caleb said, jumping off of Windy and smiling at the man as he hooked his horse to a nearby postline.
"Anything for you, Thoro, hahaha!" Caleb laughed too, replying, "You old codfish!" "But a good one, you've got to admit," Davin said, patting Caleb hard on the back. "Yeah, I guess...so, this guy you were telling me about who's entering tonight...is he...here yet?"
Davin turned and pointed through the window of a large building. Inside was a cloaked figure with a sword strapped onto his back. His face was hidden. "Just a sword? Who does this guy think he is?" Caleb asked. "Oh, you just wait and see," Davin replied, "this isn't like any of the previous big boys you've fought before. This guy knows magic! I'd be careful if I were you...it seems like he's out just for you..."
Caleb studied Davin's expressions. "You mean he wants to fight me?" Davin scratched his chin, looking back through the window. "Well, yeah. He's been taking out nearly every one of the fighters who entered tonight like they were nothing. It's as if...he's waiting for someone." "Well," Caleb said, beginning to walk towards the entrance, "Better give him what he wants."

Chapter 2: Meet Shadow
As Caleb entered the large building of the "Arena", he spotted thousands of people surrounding a box-like platform with hogwire and chains encircling it. "Next up," came a voice from above, "Gordon Lee versus our newest fighter, who just registered a few hours ago, and has been doing quite well so far, the mysterious Man of Darkness; I present to you: Shadow!"
Two men entered the fighting ring in the middle of the enormous room. One was a tall muscular man with two swords. He was bald and had a mustache. He looked quite angry. The other one was strange... he had no weapons whatsoever and he was the cloaked man Caleb had seen through the window before. "Shadow" slowly walked up to the ring and astonishingly lifted into the air and landed inside. Gasps of suprise and astonishment could be heard from the excited onlookers.
A loud bell rung loudly and the announcer screamed, "FIGHT!" Caleb crossed his arms and leaned back on a nearby wall. Let's see what this guys' made of the boy said as he watched the battle begin. Immediately, the large man known as Gordon brought both swords above his head and ran towards Shadow. The cloaked man did not move a muscle, nor did he seem to care if the blades pierced his flesh.
Just as the blade was about to practically pierce Shadows' head, the mysterious man held up one hand, stopping the attack with his finger. "What the!?" Gordon yelled, jumping back and striking again, this time even harder and aiming across his chest. Shadow moved with extraordinary speed as he did a backwards somersault, then while in mid air, grabbed Gordon with both feet and slung him as hard as he could into the ground.
Lightning rumbled above them and a loud crack could be heard as Gordon slamemd into the wooden floor of the Arena. Shadow slowly held out his hand and a strange green glow expanded from it. Gordon's body began to mysteriously float into the air.
"What are you doin' ta me!?" Gordon yelled, struggling to break free. Before he could say another word, Shadow grabbed the man by the face, then began to repeatedly knee him in the stomach, while slamming his elbow into the mans' spine from time to time. "AHH!!!!" Gordon yelled as he spat up blood and it exploded from his wounds.
Large red stains were all over the arena floor within a few minutes. People were no longer cheering, but looking on in terror as Gordon was tortured. "Booo!!!!" Someone yelled. "This isn;t a fight! This is torture!!! Booo!!!!" Many others began to join in. Shadow ignored their words and continued to pound Gordon's body over and over. The enormous man was in extreme pain and he could barely breathe.
Seven of his ribs were broken, his jaw was cracked, his elbow and shins had been fractured, and the skin on his face was beginning to peel off. A little girl was standing outside of the ring, yelling, "No! Dad! No!" Caleb had seen enough. He couldn't watch anymore. "Stop this!!!" He yelled. At the tone of his voice, everyone became quiet. Shadow continued to pummel Gordon though.
"I said stop it now!" Caleb repeated. "Fight me you coward!" When Shadow heard this, he slowed down his fighting pace and turned to face Caleb, letting Gordon's broken and battered body slam onto the wooden floor. "You wish to fight me, boy?" came a deep and dark voice from within the cloaked figure. Caleb smiled as he drew his sword.
"Yes, unless you're afraid." Shadow let out a murmured laugh as he turned back to Gordon and sent a strong kick to the man's ribs, sending him sliding across the floor and out of the arena. The young girl ran over to him ripped off a piece of her dress, then wrapped it over his wounds.
Caleb was ready to give this guy a fight he'd remember. Suddenly, the announcer's voice came on. "Well, well, ladies and gentlemen, it looks like our very own Caleb AKA Thoro, former champion, will be taking on this new competitor, will he have what it takes?" Caleb smiled, replying under his breath, "Oh yeah..."
Caleb ran up to the ring, doing a somersault and landing directly in front of Shadow. "You are brave...but foolish..." Shadow said. Caleb still couldn't see his face, but did not care what he looked like anyways. "I'll be making you eat those words in a few seconds..." The two fighters then walked away from each other, heading towards either side of the ring until they were face to face, only a few feet away. *RING!* "FIGHT!" Let's do this... I'm going to squash you, little man...hahahaha...

Chapter 3: Once Champion
Caleb slowly walked his way towards the dark figure, who stood as still as a statue, staring down at the floor. "Well? Are you going to fight or just stand there?" Caleb asked, getting closer. Shadow let out a muffled laugh as he replied, "You really want to feel what pain is like? Very well, I shall show you...my young friend..." And with that, Shadow held out both hands. Two balls of blue light began to form in his palms and he breathed hard. "Haaaa....Haaa....."
Caleb looked on in horror as Shadow then lunged forward, launching the blue energy orbs directly at him at a high speed. "What the!?" *BAM!* The orbs hit Caleb head on, one in the face, one in the stomach. The young boy was knocked off of his feet and hurled backwards onto the floor, indenting it. "Ahh!" he yelled, holding his wounds. The blue energy had practically cut through his armor like butter, and left a large gash across his chest, as well as a long wide cut across his eye.
There were gasps from every direction. Women and children held their mouths with their hands as the men watched in bewilderment as the champion of the ring lay twisting and turning on the floor. Caleb felt immense pain, but he could not give up. Could not let this guy win. But what the hell was that he just threw at me? Some kind of a psychic energy blast? There's no such thing, that's impossible.
Caleb took a quick glance at his wounds before getting back up, holding his chest with one hand, and his sword with the other. Without even thinking, he charged towards Shadow and slung his sword near the hooded creatures' head. Shadow ducked with ease, then elbowed Caleb in the stomach, knocking him back onto the floor. "Ahhh!!!" Caleb yelled, getting back to his feet and spitting some blood out. As it splattered onto the wooden surface, it seemed to burn through and left a small hole, about the size of a finger point.
People could not see this, and Caleb paid no attention to it. He instead threw his sword to the side and took the bow from his shoulder, then pulled a few arrows from the poutch on his utility belt and fired them at Shadow. The sharp objects seemed to pass right through the dark figure as he mysteriously turned into a smokey form, then, quickly back to normal.
More gasps from the crowd. Even the announcer was stunned. Shadow slowly began to walk towards Caleb, floating in the air. "Get back!" he yelled, rolling across the floor and grabbing his sword, then throwing it. It passed through Shadow as well, and he continued to float towards Caleb, hands outstretched. "I'm going to kill you, and slaughter every single person in this building!"
"I've had enough!" Caleb screamed, opening a pocket on his utility belt and taking out a small bottle. He threw it at the ground, surrounding the area in smoke, then jumped out of the ring. "Everyone get out of here!" he yelled, firing arrows at where he last saw the ring. His vision was clouded and he could hardly see anything. There were screams and yells as the people began to evacuate.
Caleb continued to fire arrows at the arena, until one of them came back, striking him right in the heart. The pain he felt was so horrible he could barely stand. His vision began to blur and he felt himself hitting the ground as he inevitably closed his eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep.

Chapter 4: Recovering
How bad is it?...It's deep, he's lucky to still be alive. Luckily, we stopped the bleeding. That arrow was three inches away from his heart. I'm amazed he's been holding up so well...When will I be able to speak to him? When will he wake up?...I'm sorry, m'aam, I do not know...
Sometime later that day, Caleb opened his eyes to see that he was in a brightly lit room. The walls were glowing white and the ceiling shone down light. He was lying on a hospital bed. Caleb tried to sit up, but the pain was too much. "Ahh..." he sighed, lying back down. He tried once again, but got no further. Caleb turned his head from side to side. On one side was his mother, sitting asleep in a chair. She was in a green dress and her hair was tied into a pony-tail.
Her name was Melony and she still looked like she was only twenty or so. Thank god he thought to himself, sighing deeply, I'm glad I won't have to listen to her screaming... Caleb lay there for about ten more minutes with his eyes closed, going over the past events.
That guy...the cloaked man...Shadow...I remember, I remember everything...he used some sort of magic powers on me...he threatened to kill everyone...I tried to stop him...but I couldn't...that was strange...I've never witnessed anything like that before. I wonder what happened when I passed out...?
Just then, a nurse in white uniform walked into the room, checking down things on the stack of papers in her hands. "Oh, you're awake," she said, surprise in her eyes. "Yes," Caleb replied, "I am...umm...you wouldn't happen to know how I got her, would ya?"
"I believe Mr. Locksley brought you in earlier last night." Caleb was happy to hear that. To know that Davin was all right. "Would you like some breakfast, Caleb?" Caleb smiled at her. She was truly beautiful. She had long red hair tied in a pony tail, milky white skin, and big green eyes.
"No, I'm all right." he said, trying to sit up once again. "You'd had better stay lied down," the nurse said, "you lost quite alot of blood. You're lucky to still be alive, you know. Jumping up and waltzing out of here would be pushing your luck..."
"I'll be fine..." Caleb said, this time struggling as hard as he could and sitting up on his bed. He looked down at his chest, noticing the big white patch across it. Caleb looked at the nurse. "Tonya Farian" was carved into the ID card on her chest. "What happened..." he began, "I mean...to Shadow..." Tonya seemed to be confused.
"I'm sorry...Shadow?" she asked. "Nevermind," Caleb said, realizing he was asking the wrong person. He got out of bed, holding his chest. His mother twisted and turned for a second, and he stared at her. Caleb then turned around and asked, "Where are my clothes, miss?" The nurse pointed to a nearby closet. "I'm not so sure you should really be walking around, Caleb..." she said. Caleb ignored her lecturing and walked over to the closet. He opened the door and spotted a bag on the top shelf.
As he grabbed for it, he felt immense pain in his chest, as is something was gnawing on it, but he dealt with it and pulled down the bag. Caleb then walked over to the bed, sat down, and began to put on his clothes. "And my weapons, where are they?" The nurse stared at him with bewilderment for a moment, then quickly walked out of the room.
"Damnit," he said to himself, beginning to search the room for his lost valuables. He found nothing. He heard footsteps coming down the hall, more than two feet. Tonya and another man in a long white jacket entered the room. Both were hlding charts.
"Caleb, I'm Dr. Fitzgerald. You need to lie back down, you're in no condition to go wandering off." Caleb studied the man for a second. He was quite tall, had a long gray beard, and piercing black eyes. "I don't need to," Caleb said, "now where are my weapons?" Dr. Fitzgerald glared at him. "You are also in no condition to be fighting, either."
"I said where are my weapons!" Caleb repeated, raising his voice. Both of them jumped at his tone and backed away a bit. "Caleb Marsh!" came a voice from behind him. "Uh-oh..." was all he could say, for he already knew what to see or expect, before it happened. He slowly turned around to see his mother glaring at him.
"Uhh...hi, mom." Melony gritted her teeth. "Hi mom!? That's all you've got to say? Hi mom!? You snuck out last night, had me scared to death, nearly got yourself killed, and that's all you have to say?" Caleb's cheeks turned red and he stared down at the hardwood floor.
"You're in for some serious punishment after you've healed up, young man." Caleb groaned at that, then replied, "But mom, I have to find out who that guy was...the one who tried to kill me...I have to find out what he wanted, why he came here...where he is now!"
Melony walked forward a few steps then slapped Caleb hard across the face. The two doctors watched in amusement. Caleb turned around to face them. "What are you two laughing at!? Get outta here!" They quickly evacuated and began to walk down the hall at a fast pace.
"Kids these days," he heard Dr. Fitzgerald say, "so violent." When the two of them had gone, Caleb and Melony stared at each other for a long time. "So, mister, what do you have to say for yourself?" Caleb took a deep breath. "Mom," he said in a serious voice, "there was this strange man at the Arena last night...the one I'd heard about who was coming to town. Well, he came earlier than expected...he was...too strong. When my chance came to fight him at the Arena, he overpowered me easily! He used some kind of...magic!"
Melony rolled her eyes. "Caleb, sweetey, there is no such thing as magic! Lie down and get some rest. You've got alot of work to do when you're healed up...tsk tsk tsk...sneaking out...nearly getting yourself killed. That's about...three months worth of extra chores."
Caleb groaned once more, before lying back down on the bed and taking a deep breath. He waited for his mother to leave, then closed his eyes. They're right. I'm in no condition to go off finding Shadow right now. Even if I were to find him, I still wouldn't stand a chance. I'm too weak right now...

Chapter 5: Back in Town
Three weeks later...
Caleb was healed up now, although he still had a scar on his chest which burned every now and then, but he dealt with it. When Caleb got out of the hospital and walked the streets of Tiro, people who passed him said snide remarks to him. "I thought you were the champ...hmph...some champ you were the other night..."
For once in his life, Caleb felt guilt. He let down his fellow admirers and was defeated by someone who was thought to be nowhere near his caliber of fighting. I can't understand any of this...darn it, I know Icould've beaten that guy if I just...just...ahh...nevermind, at least I'm lucky to still be alive...
Caleb did yardwork for his mother for a month as punishment for sneaking out. After those long, boring days passed, Caleb was allowed to finally leave the yard, which was a relief. He first went to Davin's shop, which was four blocks away from his house, near the Food Market.
Davin was a blacksmith, and a good one at that. He was the one who made Caleb's sword. Caleb had his sword for almost four years now, and it was given to him as a gift from Davin on his eleventh birthday. Every year, when the sword was battered and scratched, Caleb would go to Davin's shop and he'd make it just like new again.
As Caleb walked into the brightly lit shop, he spotted the shelves filled of swords, daggers, knifes, and handles. Davin was at the cash register assisting an old man. When he saw Caleb, his eyes lit up and he ran over to him to greet him. "Why hello there, young man! Never though I'd see you again. How are you doing?" Caleb's face was pale, but his eyes were wide open.
"I need some new equipment. My...my mom trashed all of my stuff...my sword, my bow and arrows, my battle armor, everything. She says she doesn't want me battling anymore and if she catches me, she'll beat me silly." Davin chuckled at that. "But you don't care, do you?" he asked, rubbing Caleb's dark brown hair. His hair had grown over the weeks, and it was ruffled and matted onto his forehead.
"No, I don't. I just need to find that guy...the one who did this to me..." Caleb pulled up his shirt, revealing a dark red scar. "It always hurts Davin, even right now. Sometimes I think it goes away, but it never really does. I don't think this is any ordinary arrow wound...that guy did something to me...and I've got to find out what."
"Sounds like you've been having it rough, kiddo. Don't worry, I'll fix you right up. Come back sometime tomorrow and I'll have everything ready." "Good. I'll be here. I can't wait." "So...you're going on some kind of a quest for this guy huh? Well, I believe you can handle your own, but you've never really been outside the town of Tiro...which is quite odd considering your fighting skills surpass that of even the King of Ardum. But there are darker things out there, ya know, much darker things. Firions, Scammers, and even Barlon Trolls."
Caleb smiled. "Like you said, I'll hold my own..." Davin smiled back. "Heh, of course. Well, I'll see you sometime tomorrow and by then, everything should be ready." "Thanks Davin, I owe you one." Caleb began to walk out the door when Davin called to him. "Hey kid!" "Yeah?" "Maybe you should look around the town, some things have changed alot while you were cooked up in that prison of yours, hahahaha!"
Caleb smiled then walked out the door. The golden sun shone down on him from high above in the light blue sky. The air was sweet and fresh, and the laughs of children and animals running through the streets of Tiro fileld his ears, as well as some more snide remarks, which he tried to ignore.
There was news of a parade tomorrow in . The princess was going to be there, as well as the king and queen of Ardum. Caleb never really showed it, but deep inside he loved the princess. He loved her straight long blond hair, her smooth soft face, those red shiny thin lips, and those beautiful emerald green eyes.
Her name was Marian, and Caleb had had a crush on her ever since he layed eyes on her six years ago, when he was nine and she was twelve. Over the years, Marian had come to Tiro and seen some of Caleb's battles, and smiled when she looked at him, and he smiled back, but he knew her father, King Ardum, would never have someone so perfect and beautiful like her ever marry someone like him.
King Ardus was proud. He was a warrior, like Caleb, and did not like the idea very much of a boy much younger than him being a more experienced fighter. After a while, the princess stopped coming to Tiro and Caleb did not get to see her anymore. Caleb wasn't going to miss the parade in Ardus for anything...
