We're both perverts. I'm just able to express myself better than you. You're shy. You're afraid. You're afraid of what people will think of you when you make your own choices.

Yeah right. Have you ever seen a girl looking at a boy and saying something like, "Damn, you're fine." or "You're cute." Why do you think people dress themselves to look good? They want good feedback from opposite sexes, that's why.

Chapter 7
Three Hours Later
Caleb arrived in Ardum wearing his new blue clothing. He wanted to look his best for Princess Mariam when she saw him. Ardum was a large kingdom, probably the largest in the entire country. The grass was always green, and the sun was always shining, except at night when the brightly lit moon shone down upon the white streets, causing them to glow.
There were many houses and farms nearby, with most of the people who owned farms always being active and doing what they were best at: farming, and the people who owned houses were always socializing with each other on the streets. The people who lived there had a nearly perfect life, and were very rich.
It was said that the kingdom was once poor, but King Ardum had given charity to it and made everything better. Everyone loved King Ardum, as well as his wife, Queen Anna, and their daughter, Princess Mariam. By now, the kingdom streets sidewalks were practically packed with people from Ardum, as well as from other kingdoms, especially it's very close neighbor, Tiro Kingdom.
Caleb suddenly heard loud music from instruments. The people of Ardum began to cheer as three horses carrying the king, queen, and princess, slowly walked down the aisel of the red, blue, and gold carpet that had been laid out in the street for them. There were many shouts and praises. Caleb saw Mariam. She did not see him though.
It had been so long since he'd seen her. He wondered if she liked being confined to Ardum Kingdom all of this time. Probably not. But that wasn't what mattered right now. This was a celebration for the rulers of this kingdom, and they were supposed to enjoy themselves.
Mariam didn't seem to be enjoying herself at all. She sat still on her horse, staring downwards, giving small glances to the surrounding people. She seemed nervous. Her mother and father tried to convince her to wave to the croud, but she didn't seem to want to.
It was at that moment that Caleb felt he should do something. Maybe go over and talk to her...no, that'd be foolish. The king would recognize him as "that poor rat from Tiros" and have the guards take him back to where he belonged. He didn;t want that at all, so he stood his ground.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, an enormous green reflection of light could be seen on the ground. As Caleb turned around, as well as everyone else, he saw a small green flash of eelctricity coming right towards him. Out of instinct, he dodged it with ease and watched it pass by him, heading towards the king, queen, and princess. "Look out!" cried people as the orb approached them.
They were not quick enough. The green lightning slammed into all three of them, sending them flyinf off of their horses and slamming onto the ground. Many people ran towards them, but the guards and soldiers held them back. A few guards ran up to the three rulers to check if they were alright. They were already getting up, and looking past everyone else.
Caleb looked as well. What he saw terrified him instantly. It was a very tall man wearing gold armor and a red cape, with black leather tight clothing underneath. His face was covered by a gold and black mask. In one hand, he held a long silver staff with a peculiar opening at the end of one side. It looked as though he'd just shot the electricity from that staff, and that's what everyone else thought as well.
Everybody began to rampage. The men and women charged towards the man. He quickly twirled the staff around him, creating a whirlwind. It knocked back the citizens, sending some flying backwards, while others went soaring through the air. The mysterious man quickly made his way to the king, queen, and princess, who were surrounded by guards and soldiers.
"Stay back!" they warned. "I said stay back!" The man ignored the warnings and continued walking towards them. With no other choice, the archer soldiers were ordered to fire their arrows into the man. "FIRE!" one announced, and they all shot arrows at the same time. The strange man quickly began to twirl his staff around over and over, sending the arrows back to their shooters.
One after another, the soldiers and guards fell to the wrath of the mysterious man's magical staff. There was no one left, except for a small on-looking croud that consisted of a few citizens from Ardum and Tiro, as well as Caleb. "Time to die..." the man said as he finally approached the three rulers, knocking the king to the ground with a quick swift of his staff to his face, and slapping the queen so hard she let out a yell and went crashing through a nearby wheelbarrow.
All that remained was princess Mariam, who slowly backed away. "Come with me..." the man said, holding out a gloved hand. "If you come with me...you will forever be respected...you will no longer be treated as a child...you shall go as you please...come with me!"
Caleb couldn't take anymore. He could see perfectly well that nobody else was going to anything about this, and he had to do soemthing. "Stop this!" he yelled, stepping out from the crowd of people. Everyone paused and looked at him, including the strange man. "Stay out of this kid, I'm just here for the princess...don't get yourself killed over something you know isn't worth it!"
For a moment, Caleb could've sworn he saw Mariam look at him out of the corner of his eye. Perhaps she remembered him, and knew he was going to rpotect her and make everything alright. "Lay one hand on here, and I'll cut your throat!" Caleb yelled, drawing his sword. The man let out an amused laugh, looking down at the ground, then quickly pointing his staff at Caleb.
"HAAA!!!!!" An enormous bolt of electricity exploded from the end of the staff and hit Caleb directly in the chest, knocking him off his feet and sending him skidding across the moist wet grass. "Ahh!" he yelled as he slid across the ground and slammed into a small boulder. He quickly got back up, and noticed how far away he was from the previous scene. He was more than fifty feet away.
His head hurt, but he'd had worse before. Caleb slowly got back to his feet and picked up his sword, which lay a few feet across the ground from him. He then started running towards them. Far away, the strange man with the staff watched him, twisting his head, as if interested, then quickly turned back to the princess.
"Please princess...let's not do this the hard way..." Mariam said nothing but continued to back away. She started to run, and the man quickly fired a lightning bolt from the end of his staff. "Nooo!!!!!!" Caleb yelled, quickly running and jumping in front of the blast. It hit him full force, actually knocking a hole through him. Blood gushed from the wound as he collapsed onto the ground, his eyes wide and his teeth gritted.
"Ahhh!!!!!" he yelled, touching the wound to see blood exploding from it. Princess Mariam looked at him, surprised. She ran over to him and bent down to lay a hand on his forehead. He felt a strange warmth flow through his body, and it comforted his wound, made it feel better. Caleb knew she shouldn't be concerned about his wounds, he was more worried about her safety. "Run Mariam!" he yelled. "Go! Ahh....now!!!"
Mariam did not listen, but continued to keep her hand on his forehead. Suddenly, the strange man ran forward, grabbed her by the back of the head, and began to drag her off. She yelled for help. A group of men ran in front of the intruder. "Let her go!" one yelled. The strange man twirled his staff, walking past them, and miraculously pierced all four of the mens' chests. They collapsed onto the ground and began to convulse.
Caleb wanted to get back up. He wanted to help Mariam, but he couldn't. He struggled to, but his body would not cooperate. His entire body refused to move. "No..." he murmured to himself, spitting up some blood from his mouth and almost choking on it. Screams from Mariam became louder, and he became angered, but there was nothing he could do.
"Hey kid," the man said, pulling Mariam into a headlock, "come see me when you get older and become a true warrior...I'd love to slaughter you mercilessly...while your little friend here watches..." And with that, the strange man began to twirl his staff at a quick speed, creating a blur, then a light exploded from the blur, a dark light. It was as if there was a portal. He quickly jumped into it and disappeared."
"No...princess...ahhh...AHHH!!!!!!!!!!"

Chapter 8: The Journey Begins
Caleb woke up to find himself not in a hospital, but in a large bedroom. The room was decorated with red and gold designs, as well as the bed he lay on. It was at this point Caleb realized his was in a castle, King Ardum's castle. He slowly sat up, expecting to feel pain in his chest, but there was none. That surprised him, because he could've sworn an enormous hole had been blown through his stomach.
Accepting what he supposed was luck, Caleb got to his feet. He was in his normal clothes, the ones he'd been wearing during the parade. The parade! It all began to come back to him very quickly. That strange man...he struck down all of those innocent people and kidnapped the princess. "Oh no..." he murmured to himself, realizing that he had failed once more to protect the innocent.
He was about to say more when he heard a loud shouting just outside of the room. Caleb walked over to the door and opened it slowly, peeking through the crack. There, he saw King Ardus and Queen Anna. The king was walking at a rapid pace down the long, wide hallway, heading towards his room, while the queen stood in front of him, walking backwards and shaking her hands in front of the king.
"Ardus!" she exclaimed, putting both hands on his shoulders and stopping him. "The boy tried to help! If he hadn't done what he did, more people would've been hurt! He's lucky to still be alive! He nearly sacrificed his life for our daughters', and this is how you're going to repay him!? By sentencing him to death!?"
King Ardus obviously didn't seem to be listening. "Anna," he said scornfully, "what has gotten into you!? Have you gone insane? It's clear this boy is a trouble maker, who was looking for trouble, and just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time! Who knows, maybe he's a spy from another kingdom. Maybe he was hired to cover-up for that kidnapper and pretend like it wasn't his fault! It could be any of these, but you obviously don't seem to care!"
Anna stared deep into King Ardum's eyes for a moment, then her expression became grim and she slung a hand at the kings' face. King Ardum caught her hand before it could connect. "Anna, do not make me your enemy. I am the king of this kingdom, and my choice is best. I make the decisions for this kingdom, because I rule it!"
"Look at you...you're nothing like the man I used to know...the kind man who helped others in need...it's as if a demon from hell has taken over your body! Why don't you stop being so proud for once and try thinking the right way instead of always going with whatever pops into that psychotic head of yours!?" King Ardum glared at the queen for a moment, then slowly backed away. He turned and began to walk back down the hallway from where he came.
"Very well, let the boy live, give him all of our riches if you that fits your mood!" The king continued walking, saying nothing else, and disappeared. The queen turned and began to walk towards Calebs' room. He quickly backed away from the door and tried to look decent. The queen opeend the door completely and a surprised look came over her face when she saw that he was up and awake.
"Oh," she said, placing a hand over her mouth, "did you just hear all of that? I'm so sorry...Ardum gets like that from time to time...don't worry, you'll be safe. I wanted to take the time to thank you personally for trying to help..." Caleb didn't seem to be interested in a thank you, but shook his head, notifying he understood. "Do you know where that man took Mariam?" Caleb asked. The queen shook her head, wiping a tear from her cheek.
"No...you were there...you saw what happeend...he just...disappeared." Caleb shook his head, then quickly walked past her. "Your wound," the queen said, stopping him. "It's...healed...that's odd." Caleb looked down at his open shirt, which shone a naked scar split down his chest. It looked as though there was a wound from long ago that had already healed, but that wasn't possible.
"It is strange, isn't it?" he asked, rubbing the marking. He felt a burn in his chest and jumped. "Oh, my, are you alright?" "I'm...I'm fine...it just...burns..." "Perhaps you should lie down." "No...I can't do that...not now..." Caleb walked past her and opened the door. "Where are you going?" Anna asked. Caleb stopped, turned and looked down at the shiny gold and red floor, then looked back up at her. "To rescue your daughter..." he said, turning and quickly running out of the room. "Wait!" He ran down several hallways and staircases before he came to the main entrance, where he exited the castle.
Outside stood hundreds upon thousands of citizens, both from Ardum, and from Tiros. Caleb paused as he studied them. They looked sad, very sad, but some were surprised to see him. "It's him! It's him!" yelled a middle-aged man in the crowd. "That kid?" came another voice, one from a woman. "Yeah, he's just some kid." "Jeremy, you saw it, didn't you?" "He did his best..." "But the princess is gone..."
For once in all these months, Caleb felt anger. He didn't know why, but it swelled up inside him. "I will rescue Princess Mariam! I promise!" he shouted. "And I shall slaughter the man who caused this havoc!" At that, some people cheered. More began to join in. Faces of hope could be seen. Far up above, in separate rooms, looking out the window, the king and queen watched this.
Queen Anna felt hope, and respect for Caleb, while King Ardum felt nothing but anger against him. How could this boy be making a fool of him? Who did he think he was? It was at that moment that King Ardum realized the answer to that question. "The boy from long ago...he tried to get close to Mariam...but I would not allow it...he was nothing...a nobody...he was skinnier too...hmph, seems to have toned up his muscles a bit...and grown taller...his face has changed...it's more serious...arrghhh...so this is the kid I've been hearing about who is the supposed champion of the arena fights in Tiro...he'd better not spoil my plans..."
By now, people were lifting Caleb off of the ground onto their shoulders and shouting his name. After a while, when he'd heard many thanks from the citizens, he left to go back home to pick up a few supplies before he left. Caleb equipped his bow and arrows, as well as his new shiny silver sword, which was strapped to his back by a leather belt. After telling his mother what he had to do, Caleb walked out of the house and jumped onto his horse.
His mother shouted to him as he rode off down the road. Caleb knew how angry she was, and how badly he'd be punished when he returned. None of that mattered now though. He was going to rescue the princess, it was his last chance to prove to the people of Tiros and Ardum that he wasn't just some kid. He would rescue Mariam, the girl of his dreams, but first, where exactly was she being held captive?
Only one man would know this...Sorian, the wise wizard he'd heard about who lived in Yirion Kingdom. It was told that he could use magic, but it'd never been seen before. That was many, many miles away, across the Northern Mountains and over the Scorching deserts. It did not matter how far he had to travel, what dangers he ran into, or how badly the scar on his chest burned, he would do what he'd promised. He was going to be a hero when all of this was over, and he would possibly win Mariam's love once and for all...
