I'm sorry, but I'm going to level with you.
I can't listen to techno, dance, rave, house, or any other sort of music that falls into that persuasion.
I can't.
I just... I just can't.

The Main Genres of EDM*
Ambient (usually just pads and smooth stuff, very relaxing) - Ambient House - Ambient Techno
Breakbeat (beaty stuff)
Hardcore (usually scary, downtempo stuff, except then there's Happy Hardcore) - Happy Hardcore - Rave
House (probably the most popular electronic genre) - a TON of sub-genres
Drum 'n' Bass (hm...I wonder what this consists of, aka Jungle)
IDM (aka Leftfield, usually some experimental sounds, usually without a melody)
Techno (what most people call electronic music, when infact it is a subgenre) - Ambient Techno (sounds with soul and groove, and them some other stuff) - Glitch/Digital (the stereotypical techno most people think of)
Trance (best subgenre IMO. pounding quater note bass drums, off-beat bass, and ecstasy inducing synth leads, you can consider this where *unss unss unss unss* came from) - Progressive (my favorite subgenre, usually around 140 BPM, 16th note arpy leads, and doesnt let go, a few breakdowns maybe - Melodic (aka Epic, this is what my dad likes to listen to) - Psy (the darky stuff)
*Electronic Dance Music
